AWS AT A GLANCE
Avijit Welfare Society for Persons with Intellectual Developmental Disability (AWS for Persons with IDD) was founded to provide lifelong care for individuals with IDD. As children with special needs grow, their parents’ concerns about their future care intensify, often leading to a relentless search for sustainable solutions.
After extensive efforts and overcoming societal constraints, we concluded that the “group home” concept is the most suitable option. These residential institutions, accommodating 10–20 individuals and offering comprehensive facilities, including vocational training, effectively address these concerns.
In March 2015, we launched AWS for Persons with IDD with the vision of establishing a network of small group homes. Our goal is to ensure that individuals with IDD can live dignified and fulfilling lives.
